Crocus King of the Striped Bulbs - Striped Purple Flowers, March to April
Crocus 'King of the Striped' is a distinctive naturalising crocus with bicoloured petals in light and dark purple, elegantly feathered and striped. Flowering from March to April on stems around 10cm tall, it is ideal for borders, rockeries, gravel and naturalising in grass or open woodland. Plant in autumn in well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Once established, it multiplies over time, creating drifts of intricately marked flowers that open wide on sunny days. The striped petals and bright orange stamens add fine detail and contrast to early-spring planting, while providing valuable nectar for bees. Fully hardy and low-maintenance, this crocus is perfect for gardeners seeking unusual colour and pattern. Supplied as 12 corms. Care & Planting Sun or part shade; well-drained soil; plant 5cm deep and 5-10cm apart; excellent for naturalising; protect corms with wire mesh.
