Snake's Head Fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris) is a distinctive naturalising bulb with nodding, bell-shaped flowers in purple and white chequered markings. Flowering from April to May on stems around 20cm tall, it is ideal for damp meadow areas, lawns, woodland edges and naturalistic borders. Plant bulbs in autumn in moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Avoid disturbing established bulbs so colonies can develop. This much-loved spring flower adds a delicate wildflower character to gardens. Pack of 9 bulbs. Care & Planting Prefers moist, humus-rich soil; part shade to sun; plant 5-10cm deep; ideal for naturalising in grass and woodland.
