Crocus Barr's Purple Bulbs - Early Lilac Flowers, February to March
Crocus 'Barr's Purple' is an early-flowering species crocus with rich lilac-purple blooms that open wide in the late-winter sun. Reaching around 8cm, it is ideal for the front of borders, rockeries, gravel, lawns and naturalising beneath deciduous trees. Flowering from February to March, it provides valuable early nectar for bees and other pollinators. Plant corms in autumn in well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Once settled, 'Barr's Purple' multiplies steadily, weaving colour through grass and between paving. Its silvery-lilac outer petals and deeper amethyst interiors, highlighted by bright orange stamens, create a striking contrast. Supplied as 25 corms. Care & Planting Sun or part shade; well-drained soil; plant 5cm deep and 5-10cm apart; excellent for naturalising; use wire mesh to deter mice and squirrels.
